Description
Roundabout is a revolutionary game that plays like a classic. Easy to learn and simple to play, yet filled with many strategic possibilities. Roll the dice and move your game pieces in two opposite directions at same time. Be the first player to successfully manoeuvre all of your pieces around the board and return home.
This abstract game consists of five concentric rings divided into sixteen sectors (bars). Each player has a home sector that is four bars wide. Ten directional playing pieces start in the center bars of the home sector facing outwards. Each turn players roll two dice and use each dice roll to move a piece either in its facing direction or along its bar. When a piece starts a turn outside of it home sector and then is moved within the sector it is removed from the game. The first player to run out of pieces wins the game.
Additional complexity comes from blocking, capturing (freezing pieces while simultaneously preventing other opposing pieces from entering the bar in which the capture occurs), removing pieces from the board through `ringers’ and special moves from rolling doubles. Variant rules exist for more cutthroat games and games with more than two players.
